Eliminate the doors.
A CakeBoxx container is simple in concept. There are two fully separable, but structurally integrated, components – a bottom deck and a lid (the four sides and top.) The lid can be removed or replaced using cranes or stackers common to all intermodal port facilities worldwide, or by a medium sized forklift truck using an inexpensive spreader bar attachment.
The lid and deck platform lock together with a simple, but strong latching mechanism with fewer moving parts than most doored containers. CakeBoxxes have stronger structures on all four corners, with higher anti-racking strengths and no weak corner columns by the doors.
When its two sections are joined together, a CakeBoxx is dimensionally identical in all aspects to traditional containers, and will transparently integrate into all intermodal processes, including stacking, storage and ship-to-shore transfers.
